Much like the mountain it is named after, Mount Kinabalu, the highest mountain in South East Asia, the Kinabalu Residential College stands proudly in University of Malaya. The college was completed in 1985, and held its grand opening ceremony on the 18th of December 1987. Funding for the college’s construction was fully provided by Yayasan Sabah (Sabah Foundation).
Anywhere between 700 to 900 undergraduates can reside in the Kinabalu Residential College every year, with 800 students currently calling it home. Over the years, the college has been home to approximately 10,000 undergraduates, most of them going on to achieving success in their own fields. They are the pride and joy of the college and each and every one of them prove the significance of the college's contribution.
